Week 16 - 2026 Fly Fishing Report – Ladybower Fisheries
Extreme heat took its toll!!!
Well that was a warm week! With temperatures constantly around and mostly above the 30 degree mark there's no wonder the fishing slowed a little. As to be expected once the surface temperature crept up to and above 20 degrees the trout dropped deeper in search of more comfort.
Anglers that found success used the bung at 15ft plus or sinking lines and boobies. Very little to the dries which is no real surprise.
Luckily now we have more friendly conditions forecast and a few days of this cooler temperature and a nice breeze to freshen the surface should be all it takes to lift them back in the water column.
With the weather improving into this week we'll be back stocking our usual 1000 plus fish
Top returns:
Glen Lamont and his boat partner boat fished on Monday and Tuesday, together they figured a method out netting 23 the first day and 16 on the Tuesday. Cat boobies on the point of a washing line was the stand out fly.
Also having a decent day on Tuesday was Rob Crawford and his mate Howard. The pair had 14 to the boat again on the washing line teamed with a FAB.
By the time friday came around the fish were at depth for sure. That said James Bradstry still managed 9 to his boat fishing boobies very deep.
Well done all it what was a challenging week.
