Catch Report Week 1

Week 1 - 2026 Fly Fishing Report – Ladybower Fisheries

Season Total stocking to date: 4,700

Firstly, we'd like to say a huge thank you to everyone that has visited Ladybower this week! It's been amazing to welcome to all back at the reservoir and the comments from you guys about the quality of fishing to be had at the moment makes all the hard work through those dreadful winter months all worthwhile.

We've already sold a record amount of season tickets - its still not too late to get yours! with prices starting from £350 and fishing that's hard to beat why not treat yourself!?

AND ON TO THE FISHING!... it really has been very consistent across both boat and bank this week with fish holding tight in. Positioning your boat correctly, within yards of the banks has proved key, no more than 30 yards off 👌🏼 with that said its pretty clear bank anglers have also enjoyed their share in many areas. Keeping mobile is always handy from the bank, jumping between the main areas below will keep fish coming.

Tactics remain pretty simple this time of year with finding the fish being more critical. Fast glass and di3 with larger lures, tadpoles, snakes, damsel and cats whiskers all good picks. The bung has been lethal in the right spot also, getting the depth right will ensure it keeps burying. 3-6ft is a good starting point.

Top returns

New season ticket holder, Nick Halstead, has enjoyed an exceptional start to his campaign. Taking advantage of his ticket, his first session was had on Saturday where he netted 20+ from the top of the Derwent arm. His methods were the bung and a di3 with snakes.

John Kirk and Graham Measures also enjoyed their first boat session. They commented that they'd found fish everywhere they visited! Also landing quality overwintered fish to over 8lb 🐟 methods noted very a di5 and black lures fished slow.

Doing something slightly different this Sunday was kayak fisherman, Wayne Gildart. He found fish in the basin, and especially in front of the dam wall. His damsel with a steady draw retrieve brought him action all day, including some mega looking fish.
