Catch Report Week 27

Week 27 Fly Fishing Report – Ladybower Fisheries

Season Total stocking to date: 22,039
Weekly Rod Average: 5.4

Last week saw more favourable weather conditions, with gentle breezes and mild days. That said, we do now have cooler weather on the horizon which will only improve the fishing even further! Not that it's needed it!

Dry fly sport has remained fantastic with anglers rarely needing to fish other methods. Black, orange and tan foam bodied Daddies have been the favourite choices. Selecting the size of your dries has been important with size 12's being a good starting size. Then dropping down in size in calm conditions or up a size with a decent ripple.

Productive sreas have been widespread, and we often find ourselves saying it, but it's true, there are fish everywhere! To pin down some consistent locations - Rasberry Bay, Ashopton Viaduct and the deep bank across the back of the cages have seen really good numbers.

Don't discount fishing really close to the deeper banks. On Tuesday, Warren was out guiding and commented on how close to the banks fish were, literally a few feet away taking dries in the sheltered deep areas.

No huge fish landed this week but we have started to see a nice number of 5-7lb fish showing up which have been feeding naturally and shaped up really well. The back end of the season is sure to be special when these fish turn to the abundance of Roach and Perch fry.

Don't forget it - Ladybower, home of the big Bows…….

A reminder that our fishery manager, Warren Langridge is now set up to offer tuition and fully guided fishing trips. You can book via the office on 01433 659712 or by using the link on this page of our website: https://www.ladybowerfisheries.co.uk/tuition

Notable catches this week:

• Elliot Horrocks had a cracking day up the Snake arm netting 27. His trout fell to Dawsons nomads stripped fast on a floating line!

• Ryan Matthews took advantage of the bank holiday Monday in style landing 18 fish. His main two areas were the dam and Ashopton Viaduct. He also netted an impressive fish, estimated at 15lb, although unfortunately we don't have any pictures.

• Bob Forshaw was out on Tuesday had racked up an impressive 25 fish commenting that fish were "ALL OVER".

• Pete Skelton also netted 25 fish deploying wet flies on a 6ft tip line to great effect. He found the majority of his fish up the Derwent arm.

A few words about the rules…..

The new cages have a 50m exclusion zone around them (indicated by a perimeter of buoys). Please respect this perimeter and do not cross into it. This applies to everybody.

Ladybower Fisheries would, once again, like to remind all our boat anglers that standing up in the boat to fish or motor is strictly prohibited. We’re still seeing isolated instances of this practice but thankfully most seem to have got the message. Safety on the water is of paramount importance to all of us. Please, follow the rules (they’re there for a very good, and sadly tragic reason which occurred at another Uk reservoir). Please remain seated. Many thanks.
