Week 18 Fly Fishing Report – Ladybower Fisheries
Total Stocking to Date: 19,700
Conditions Improve with Cooler Weather
A week of cooler temperatures and a few light showers has freshened things up across the reservoir. Fish are now feeding more confidently, often just subsurface, and the sport continues to pick up as a result.
Well over 19,700 rainbows stocked so far this season including a further 1,300 fish stocked on Friday. Plenty of action still to come as we move into the heart of the season.
Where It’s Happening
Productive areas this week included the main basin, Grainfoot, Monument and Raspberry Bay. Whether from the bank or boat, these zones continue to offer consistent sport.
What They're Taking
Not much has changed in terms of fly patterns — Daddies, CDC dries and Midas are still performing well. Pulling blobs and boobies or fishing the washing line method is now paying off too. Two boobies with a pair of cormorants or hoppers in between is proving deadly when the fish are chasing.
Top Catches This Week
• John Hood and his father, Richard, landed 24 fish on Wednesday using mixed dries in the basin.
• Dave Morris had a productive Saturday with 13 fish across the reservoir, fishing floating line and Daddies.
• Derek Moore continues his consistent form — 12 fish to dries on Thursday.
• Ian Bradfield had a strong day Tuesday with 13 fish on Midas patterns.
