Week 17 Fly Fishing Report – Ladybower Fisheries
Rod Average: 4.5
Total Stocking to Date: 18,425
It’s been a week of extremes on the weather front — blazing sunshine early on followed by a blustery, wet weekend! As expected, the heat has slowed things slightly, but the sport's still been there for those who stayed mobile and adapted to the changing conditions.
Productive areas included the Dam, Grainfoot, Monument, Derwent Inlet, and Raspberry Bay, with fish found holding up high in the water — especially during those cooler, cloudier spells.
Dries still dominate!
Anglers sticking with foam-bodied Daddies, Midas, and CDC shuttlecocks have been rewarded. Floating lines remain the top choice, though we’re seeing more action on midge tips, slow sinkers, and intermediates as water temps creep up.
This week’s standout catches:
• Richard Slater – 13 on black/red Midas
• Mark Rose – 12 on Popper Hoppers (Dam to Derwent Arm)
• David Riley – 17 on Daddies
• Paul White – 16 on CDCs and Diawl Bachs on the washing line
Top lines:
• Floating
• Midge Tip
• Intermediate
Best flies:
• Midas
• Boobies
• Popper Hoppers
• Foam Daddies
• Nymphs
• Black Buzzers
Still waiting on a monster…
We know there are fish up to 20lb lurking in the deep — who's going to land the next PB?
Catch Return Reminder:
We’ll be drawing our next Catch Return Card Competition winner later this month. Big thanks to everyone taking time to fill these in — they really help us manage the fishery.
Boat Safety Reminder:
Please remain seated at all times while fishing or motoring. Standing is not permitted, and safety is our number one priority for all on the water.
