Catch Report Week 16

Week 16 Fly Fishing Report – Ladybower Fisheries
Rod Average:
5.23
Total Stocking to Date: 18,425

Well, what a glorious week it turned out to be — calm, warm, and full of fish!

Interestingly, the trout don’t seem to mind the sunshine at all — in fact, sport has often improved on bright days this week.

Hotspots continue to be spread right across the reservoir, a testament to the excellent form Ladybower is holding. Whether you're at Grainfoot, Pickles, Raspberry Bay, or the Main Basin, you’re in with a real chance of action.

Notts Police enjoyed a brilliant social day on Wednesday, with the sun out and fish rising high in the water. Some of their boats reported catching over 50 fish — great work, team!

No further sightings of our big monsters this week — meaning those 20+ fish pushing the 20lb mark are still waiting for the right angler! Could it be you? Your personal best might just be cruising Ladybower’s depths... and with more giants going in soon, now’s a great time to visit.

Stocking Update:
Friday saw another fresh top-up of fish, bringing our season total to over 18,000 blue and rainbow trout, plus a sprinkle of browns.

Tactics & Techniques:
Anglers continue to have success on floating lines, particularly with dries and nymphs, though we’re seeing a rise in the use of midge tips, intermediates, and slow sinkers. Most fish are still holding high in the water — targeting the top few feet has proven most effective.

Monthly Catch Return Prize Draw:
Don’t forget — we’ll be drawing the June winner of our Catch Return Card competition soon. These returns are incredibly valuable to us, so thank you to everyone who’s taking part!

Top Lines This Week:
• Floating
• Midge Tip
• Intermediate

Best Flies:
• Blobs
• Boobies (various colours)
• Popper Hoppers
• Nymphs
• Foam Daddies
• Cats Whiskers

Boat Safety Reminder:
We kindly remind all boat anglers that standing up to fish or motor is strictly prohibited. I had to address this over the weekend — please remember that safety is paramount. Let’s all do our part to keep the water a safe and enjoyable place for everyone.
