Week 14 Fly Fishing Report – Ladybower Fisheries
Rod Average: 4.8
Total Stocking to Date: 16,225
Half term brought fewer rods on the water as families headed elsewhere – and the wind didn’t make things any easier! That said, those who did brave it were rewarded with some brilliant sport and a strong rod average of 4.8. Both boat and bank anglers found success, especially in the more sheltered spots, with many fish still being tempted up top on dries.
Hot fly choices this week included:
Midas, Popper Hoppers, Klinkhammers, foam-headed suspenders, and those ever-reliable orange lures.
Top tip: Bring a drogue if you’re heading out in a boat – the breeze has been stubborn.
We added another 1,225 top-quality blue and rainbow trout on Friday, taking us up to a whopping 16,225 fish stocked so far this season – and some of them nudging 20lbs! Fancy tangling with one of the big boys?
Notable catches this week:
• Ian Bradfield & Paul Davidson (AAFF) – 31 fish over the weekend on floating lines and dries. “All over” was the report – great angling lads!
• Richard Mansell (AKA the Singing Dentist) – 15+ from the Grainfoot bank using orange blobs and a floating line. Switched to traditional wets “for a bit of fun” – class!
• Tony Smith (DCAC) – 36 fish on dries and Daddies near Ashopton Viaduct.
• Darren Booth – 26 fish from the main basin and Raspberry Bay on dries and dabblers.
• William Gemmel – 13 fish on yellow/green Dancers aboard our accessible V16 at Mill Brook and Grainfoot.
• Keith Gee – A reliable 12 at Pickles Meadow with an orange tadpole and sinking line. Windy and bright didn’t stop him – and he spotted mayflies hatching too!
Monthly Catch Return Draw
Don’t forget – our next monthly draw winner (for correctly filled-in catch return cards) will be announced later this month. A big thank you to all who take the time – it really helps us keep the fishery in top shape.

Boat Angler Reminder:
Standing up to fish or motor is strictly not allowed.
Please remain seated at all times – safety comes first. We had to speak to anglers over the weekend, and recent events elsewhere are a sobering reminder. Let’s keep Ladybower safe for everyone.
