Saturday May 18th.......Another couple of smiling faces amongst many today. Priscilla Toa with her first ever fly-caught rainbow trout (despite not using "the rude fly" as she puts it, or as it's better known here, the SKB C-CAB) and John Hughes with a smart looking wild brown trout (we don't stock brownies). In other news, handsome devil Beenun Dunnett was a fish out of water in a boat for a change with partner Carl and both were handed an utter thrashing by Steven Frakes in a tube. Fish rising everywhere this afternoon and reports of successful hook ups to dry flies abound............๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ˜Ž

Saturday May 18th.........There's been a marked upturn in new fly fishers at Ladybower lately taking advantage of our tuition schemes. Maxine and David Reed had two hours casting tuition yesterday and carried on with a normal day ticket afterwards managing to catch a couple of nice trout from the casting platform. I suspect they'll want a boat next time. ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ‘

A lure, a wet, a dry, a nymph,
The sound of running streams,
Tranquility and peacefulness,
A painting by Jardine....

A fly tied single handed,
No vice or tools to hand,
A flat cap and a fishing vest,
Emergers largely banned.....

A subtle shade of olive,
It has to be correct because,
A Dulux colour chart is held by,
Every trout I oft suspect....

But kill a fish I dare you,
You'll be pelted with ordure,
And take it's bloody picture?
Oh dear god you're toast for sure.....

The forums leap upon you,
Hyenas on a corpse,
It's done to death and we know best,
So quiet and toddle orf.....

......and so....

"Thou should never fish the bung my son,
'Tis the devil's work for sure,
Thou should never rip a blob back,
Ye'll be damned for evermore,
Thou should never fart in waders,
It takes ages to ascend,
Hours later round the campfire,
An explosion be your end....."

Friday 17th May......John Phipps from Leicestershire was kind enough to book a morningโ€™s float tube tuition with us today. Whilst an experienced fly angler, Johnโ€™s not too keen on wading so it took a fair amount of steeliness to have a go in the tube. As is the way with a newcomer, I accompanied him in an observational capacity but not fishing myself, so as to get an idea of what was right or wrong with his technique. John listened patiently and within an hour Iโ€™d handed him a rod and line to have a go with. His casting became more and more confident as he held station in what was a fairly stiff breeze and after a break and a coffee we launched again and this time he was rewarded with a nice plump rainbow trout of around 2lbs weight. He was almost as made up as I was. ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ˜Ž One thing the lesson brought home was that different float tubes suit different people better than others. John found my Fish Cat far easier to control than the hired Guideline as it sits higher in the water so will be looking for a similar type of model when he purchases. If you wish to book a float tube lesson please call and ask for Richโ€™ and Iโ€™ll get you booked in. ๐Ÿ˜€
