Catch Report Week 25

Week 24 Fly Fishing Report – Ladybower Fisheries

Season Total stocking to date: 21,289
Weekly Rod Average: 3.8

The changeable weather’s caused the fish to become a little reluctant to feed positively this week with days alternating between sunshine and cloud/rain. Wind speeds have been largely benign although one or two gusts have made drifting difficult at times.

Despite the conditions the rod average has remained respectable at 3.8 with a number of fish still falling to dry flies in open water, Daddies featuring large on the catch reports. We’ve also seen fish being picked up much deeper (8 - 15ft) to snakes and boobies although interestingly not much in between.

Floating lines remain the top choice, with washing lines as well as 12ft tips, Fast Glass and booby basher lines appearing strongly on catch cards.

Stocking for the season to date remains at 21,289 blue and rainbow trout with more due soon. Once again, and we keep on saying it, come and have a go at Ladybower, home of the big Bows…….😎😎😎

Notable catches this week:
• Step forward Isaac Slack! A terrific performance of 30 fish from the tall youth alongside boat partner Laurie Cutting with a respectable 8. Isaac notes that most of his tally came to washing line tactics with Hopper Booby and Diawl Bachs around the Telegraph Pole area.
• Phil Marr  did very nicely for himself boating 14 on an unusual purple and green chain head Damsel variant (see photos) on a sink tip at around 8 feet deep with a very slow retrieve.
• Neil Mellor fished just down from the Telegraph Pole in his boat with a floating line and Daddies to catch his 11 fish. Still coming to the surface they are!
• Brett Hand had a drive round to Raspberry Bay for a spot of bank fishing over the shallow areas and did very well indeed on Dry Daddies. Great to see the bank anglers doing so well despite the increased temperatures.

Top Lines This Week:
• Floating Line
• Fast Glass
• 12’ sink tip
• 18’ sink tip

Best Flies:
• Daddies
• Orange Booby
• Midas
• Cats Whisker
• Klinkhammers
• Hoppers
• Cormorants

A word about the 50m exclusion zone around the new cages (indicated by a perimeter of buoys). Please respect this perimeter and do not cross into it. This applies to everybody. 👍

Ladybower Fisheries would, once again, like to remind all our boat anglers that standing up in the boat to fish or motor is strictly prohibited. Safety on the water is of paramount importance to all of us. Please, follow the rules (they’re there for a very good, and sadly tragic reason at another Uk reservoir recently). Please remain seated. 👍 Many thanks. 😎
