Catch Report Week 12

Week 12 Fly Fishing Report – Ladybower Fisheries
Bank Anglers Bag Big Numbers – See Who’s Made the Catch Report!

What began as a warm week quickly turned into a heatwave, raising concerns that high temperatures and blazing sun might hamper the fishing. Thankfully, the fish didn’t get the memo. Despite bright skies, dry flies and subsurface nymphs proved irresistible, helping anglers notch up a cracking rod average of 8.27. The fish are clearly looking up — and possibly wearing shades.
Large numbers of fish continue to be caught in open water, with Klinkhammers, black gnats, and buzzers doing the heavy lifting. These flies imitate the hatch and fall of insects perfectly, and they’re working brilliantly — so ignore the sun and fish high!

Floating lines have led the charge, with fast intermediates still producing great results for those who enjoy pulling blobs and snakes through the surface layers. Most fish are coming from the top few inches.

Angler Highlights – Big Numbers and Bright Days:
Ryan Matthews & Jordan Firby: A staggering 67 fish between them on dries and indicators in the main basin. Top Hats and Daddy Longlegs ruled the day.

• Dave Booth, Craig Middleton & Dave Riggatt: Into the mid to upper twenties, with dries and Cormorants proving deadly.

• Dave Hudson: A consistent 22 fish using a Booby and Blobs on an intermediate, later switching to a floating line for even more action near the Old Telegraph Pole.

Bank Anglers Make Their Mark:
Keith Gee: 28 fish from Pickles Meadow using an Orange Tadpole on a sinking line and a 25-countdown.

• David Martin: 20 fish to Cats Whiskers and Orange lures — also from Pickles.

• Richard Mansell: “They were taking on almost every cast…” Over 20 fish at Grainfoot using a mix of orange blobs, dries and wets.

Ladybower’s bank fishing is on fire — and with miles of space now open and stocking happening across the whole site, we’d love to see even more rods out there!
