Catch Report Week 13

Week 13 - 2026 Fly Fishing Report – Ladybower Fisheries

Catch report - week ending 7.6.26. Rod Average 6.02

Season Total Stocking to Date: 12,100

Bit of a drab start to June!

Unfortunately the weather took a vice like grip on the past week with some rather out of character downpours for the time of year. This has held the water levels stable for a week or so but as we all know a lot of water coming in, in a short space of time is never nice for the fishing.

It did however help the surface temperature out. After the heatwaves it crept up to 19 degrees, we now sit consistently lower than that and back in the comfortable feeding range for trout. We always gauge the activity when feeding the cages to get a feel for how comfortable the trout are at the surface and right now they are properly on the munch! We simply can't feed them enough!

So with that knowledge its just a case of finding those actively feeding fish now.

The main basin across open water continues to fish well to dries with the dam wall often providing shelter from the wind. Other areas to look out for a when a wind is coming off a tree-lined bank or down it. Over the past month or so now fish have been feeding tight to these banks where the occasional terrestrial has dropped in or the hatches have been more prolific.

On the fly front a good starting bet for Ladybower has always been a black daddy. This can replicate a number of food items for the fish and creates a brilliant silhouette which trout can pick out easily. Be sure to have some in your armoury if your visiting in the next weeks!

Over 1,100 fish were introduced on Friday to help stir the residents up, amongst these were a good helping of blue trout which we know you all love

Top returns

Scores were improving drastically as Sunday came around. Steve Cullen and Tim Trapp netted a cricket score (50/60) on black daddies and various other dries. Again under the trees proving key well in gents .

Another impressive tally on Sunday came to Rob Crawford and Howard Smith. Together they put together a bag of over 30 fish noting that a pulled midge tip and boobies was the way forward for them .
